Did you get a new puppy? Don’t wait until they’re a year or older to begin service dog training. Starting early prevents bad habits and sets your puppy up for lifelong success. Our Puppy Service Dog In-Training Program builds the foundation for obedience, socialization, and future service dog tasks.

We begin training puppies as early as 8 weeks old, focusing on potty training and preventing unwanted behaviors. The program includes our Puppy Head Start Program, addressing common puppy issues such as:

• Nipping & Mouthing
   
• Barking & Whining
   
• Jumping & Chewing
   
• Potty Training
   

Our comprehensive approach ensures your puppy is well-behaved and ready for service dog training.

Phase 1: Weeks 1–2 — Obedience Training

• Calm leash walking
   
• Potty training (including in public settings)
   
• Socialization with people and other dogs
   
• Basic obedience commands: Sit, Stay, Come, Down
   
• Preventing jumping on people
   

Phase 2: Weeks 3–4 — Service Dog Training

• Exposure to public environments: stores, elevators, escalators, restaurants
   
• Teaching proper public behavior (no jumping, no potty accidents)
   
• Introducing early service dog tasks and experiences
   

At the end of the 4-week program, your puppy will be ready to return home. You’ll receive a vest, badges, and certificates, and your puppy’s training will be officially registered online.

Once your puppy reaches 1 ½ years old, you can return for specialized training to refine and expand the specific tasks you want your service dog to perform.
